French Fare at our Feet

After a recent visit to a meeting of the Atlanta Music Teacher's Association, one of the members suggested we venture to Violette for lunch. I, obsessed with all things French, immediately obliged. With a name like "Violette," I knew I was in for a treat.
Violette did not disappoint. The atmosphere was quite lovely with a roomy dining area and round tables. The aged stucco walls transformed us to an air of a slower pace.
With the best french accent I could muster, I ordered the "polenta avec crêpe tulipe." The polenta was served with olives, goat cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes. It was topped with roasted-tomato ragout and presented in a open-faced "crispy crepe." The sourness of the olives mixed perfectly with the creaminess of the goat cheese and my crêpe was the envy of the table.

Violette was founded by native frenchman Guy Luck, who came to the states in the 1980's. In a very french fashion, he named the restaurant "Violette" after an ex-lover. After his passing in 2003, his friend and business parter Stephanie Belcher, along with fellow countryman Stephane Picarda and Erin McDonald, vowed to keep Mr. Luck's dream alive.
I would recommend you make it a point to check out this restaurant and the many events it offers.

I'd Rather Be Here...

Wow- where to begin?  So many wonderful things have happened since the last time I blogged.  I guess a lot can happen in a year :)  It seems we did a 180 all around!  We are now in a lovely home with the perfect space to teach.  We decided to make this move because of the finest thing to ever happen to us: Fiona Lynn.  Joshua Radin's "I'd Rather Be With You" describes it perfectly.  It really makes me wonder why we waited so long for this season of life.  I guess all the stuff we went through to get here makes us appreciate it even more :)

With the start of a new season comes the re-start of my blogging.  I hope you enjoy my journaling as I continue my pursuit of the finer things.

Joshua Radin:
"I'd Rather Be With You"

Sitting here, on this lonely dock
Watch the rain play on the ocean top
All the things I feel I need to say
I can't explain in any other way

I need to be bold
Need to jump in the cold water
Need to grow older with a girl like you
Finally see you are naturally
The one to make it so easy
When you show me the truth
Yeah, I'd rather be with you
Say you want the same thing too

Now here's the sun, come to dry the rain
Warm my shoulders and relieve my pain
You're the one thing that I'm missing here
With you beside me I no longer fear

I need to be bold
Need to jump in the cold water
Need to grow older with a girl like you
Finally see you are naturally
The one to make it so easy
When you show me the truth
Yeah, I'd rather be with you
Say you want the same thing too

I could have saved so much time for us
Had I seen the way to get to where I am today
You waited on me for so long
So now, listen to me say:

I need to be bold
Need to jump in the cold water
Need to grow older with a girl like you
Finally see you are naturally
The one to make it so easy
When you show me the truth
Yeah, I'd rather be with you
Say you want the same thing too
Say you feel the way I do
